Hand roll is my friend!
I have praised, I have encouraged, I have jumped up and down getting your attention about Jump Tokyo long enough, if you haven’t listened that is your fault, not mine.
This place says hello to you like a long lost friend, serves you like a close friend, and makes sure you leave full and happy.
Once again we started with our usual salmon and yellowtail sushi. Yellowtail won this time.
We then ordered two additional rolls which rocked and like always surprised us with a free treat. This time it was carved out cucumber looking like celery filled with fresh fish, avocado, and massago. Might have been one of the best spur of the moment treats the chef has sprung on us.
This place never fails and always makes us leave with full bellies and even bigger smiles on our face. Thanks Jump Tokyo!
When Ryan or I have something to celebrate we usually head over to our favorite sushi spot. This time we went down to Jump Tokyo to say cheers to me!
We think we have discovered a hidden secret when we visit this restaurant. If you sit at the bar you seem to get special treatment! Every time we go we get edamame and a treat from the chef at the end of our meal.
Each sushi adventure we start with our usual of a salmon sushi and yellowtail sushi. Then we usually order two rolls, which we normally mix up to try something new. Then bam we get an exciting treat at the end. This time our treat was two mussels cooked with a creamy cheesy saucy deliciousness on top. Wow, this was a perfect ending to our meal.
After the salmon and yellow tail sushi and before the mussels we had a deep fried Philadelphia roll (which is one of Ryan’s favorites) and a New York roll. I guess we were ordering based on cities or something. I loved the New York roll. It had crab, avocado, cucumber on the inside with fatty tuna on top which was covered in tempura flakes and eel sauce. Pretty much a divine combination of flavors.
We luckily were full and satisfied, but not disgustingly full which can happen at sushi, especially when they spoil you like our spot does.
Oh Jump Tokyo thank you for making our celebration night even more enjoyable!
I ended up in San Marcos the other day for work. I never go to San Marcos, let alone North County. When we needed to grab some lunch I was clueless where to go, but pleasantly surprised at Ahi Sushi and Grill. My co-worker and I split a seaweed salad to start with. I knew this was going to be a great lunch just by the presentation of the salad and the portions were quite large.
I ordered the Sashimi lunch with comes with spicy tuna roll with 4 piece sashimi. Their online menu says it also comes with miso soup, which we never got, but I didn’t need it that day.
The spicy tuna roll was good, can’t really mess those up. I would actually ask for it a bit spicier next time. They probably assumed I was a novice in the spicy department, but I was trained well as a little kid to enjoy spicier foods.
The sashimi was mouth watering. The pieces were decent size and extremely fresh. When the yellow tail melts in your mouth like butter, you know you got a good piece of fish.
To end our meal the chef made us a sweet treat and with the cutest presentation. I now have a reason to go up to San Marcos and it is for my favorite North County sushi spot!
